Ahoy Maties!

Bowing to the Pirate obsession that's been proliferating amongst my LJ friends jettdelirium, seanachie and paivacakes (who has the sexiest damn LJ icon), I was thinking about Halloween, and, naturally, going as a pirate.

So I did a search on Pirate Costumes. This was the second on the list, and this was the fourth. This one was the eighth (see a trend here?) and here was number nine.

Now, it may be just me...but I don't think women pirates dressed up like that.

Apparently there's something that says that if an adult woman wants to dress up for halloween, it has to be short, skimpy and sexy. Which, naturally, being a member of the pig male species, I find rather appealing...but there's one thing that does disturb me.

These costumers, these people out to make a buck, they're over looking one simple fact: No, it's not that women wearing this might degrade themselves, nor is it the "double-standard" between costumes (any men's costume you might find will be long pants/long sleeve/all covering). No, I think these retailers are forgetting something far more important. That being, Halloween is at the end of October. It's DAMN COLD that time of year in most parts of the country (Around here it can be!). These poor women are going around practically naked, freezing their (pirate/english speak ahead) bloody arse's off!! And who has to give up his Buccaneer jacket? Me!

Geez...what a worthless entry this has been :)

By the way, if you haven't yet seen Pirates of the Caribbean, do so. It's a blast. Sure to spawn a sequel as well (Though I guess it's rare when a movie doesn't spawn a sequel nowadays... ).
