Heart Stopping
Editor’s Note: This was originally posted on facebook, but to try and have this blog be the “source of truth”, I’m tracking down the important posts and posting them here on the corresponding date they were originally published.
Because a lot of people have reached out asking questions, and as Sarah has made her own post, I guess it's ok to explain what's going on. I'm not one to usually talk about private matters on Facebook, but it does seem to be the quickest way to get info to the masses.
Monday night, Gail and I went to Richmond, as Sarah was in the ER. After a million lab samples and tests, we finally got a firm diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. As far as cancers go, this is one of the easier ones to treat, with a 97% survival rate.
The outpouring of support and well wishers has made this incredibly stressful and emotional week a bit easier to bear. So, many thanks to you all. We have a plan now and can move forward. Not only is Sarah determined to kick cancer's ass, she's a bit put out that it picked now to appear. She has a plan for her life and this certainly wasn't part of it. But she's super determined and her strength this past week has been a rock for Gail and I.
All the positive thoughts and prayers are welcomed and appreciated. I have no doubt Sarah will beat this. She's one of the most determined kids I've ever met. This is nothing more than a speed bump.
